Make A Lesson, Take A Lesson with Nearpod

Nearpod, the versatile presentation and interaction platform, allows teachers and students to be connected throughout a lesson, with students able to share their thinking, and the teacher able to provide real-time feedback. Once you've created a Nearpod account, you have access to a content library that allows you to download lessons in every subject area. At the same time, you can also give your current lessons a "makeover" by easily converting them into Nearpod presentations. We will do all of that and more in this hands-on workshop, looking for ways to access all levels of Bloom's by modifying lesson design. Be sure to bring technology and your PowerPoint or Google Slides.

Google CS First Beginners: Storytelling with Code

Google asked teachers to create CS First as an easy-to-approach curriculum for teachers without computer science backgrounds or experience. There are nine themes, ranging from Easy to Challenging, that teach computer science by breaking it down into smaller, easy-to-master modules. The themes help students make the connection between computer science and things they already do, like storytelling, sports, or playing video games. This session will be for those new to CS First, and we will dig deep into the STORYTELLING theme. No previous coding experience is necessary. Teachers have access to a library of videos that teach the concepts, lesson plans, and answer keys to help you check student programming solutions. Be sure to bring your laptop or Chromebook, as this will be a hands-on session.
