Reimagining Computer Science: A Code.org Workshop for School Administrators
March 5 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm
Cost | Free
Event Description | DID YOU KNOW?….Pennsylvania currently has 17,255 open computing jobs (3.2 times the average demand rate). The average salary for a computing occupation in PA is $85,654, which is significantly higher than the average salary in the state ($47,540). The existing open jobs alone represent a $1,477,959,770 opportunity in terms of annual salaries.
Pennsylvania had only 2,969 computer science graduates in 2015.
Computer science drives job growth and innovation throughout our economy and society. Computing occupations are the number 1 source of all new wages in the U.S. and make up two-thirds of all projected new jobs in STEM fields, making Computer Science one of the most in-demand college degrees.
This workshop is designed for district- and building-level administrators. In this interactive workshop, administrators will be provided an opportunity to experience Code.org’s free K-12 standards-aligned computer science curriculum.
Lunch will be provided at 11:30 am for all registered participants.

Background | Launched in 2013, Code.org is a non-profit dedicated to expanding access to computer science, and increasing participation by women and underrepresented students of color. Our vision is that every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer science. We believe computer science should be part of core curriculum, alongside other courses such as biology, chemistry or algebra.
