May 23 @ 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
Event Description |
transformED is the AIU’s hub of innovative professional development.
Come learn and explore in this safe digital playground for teachers.
Using a constructivist approach, participants research and explore various items from within the library holdings, including:
Makey Makey, Hummingbird, Finch, Osmo, Beebot, Kindles, littleBits Class Kit, littleBits Gizmos & Gadgets, littleBits Smart Home, littleBits Arduino, SPECK, Robot Turtles, Puzzlets, and more!
While registration is open to all, currently only the 42 AIU “Member Districts” may borrow from the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation STEAM Lending Library. This is also an excellent opportunity to “try before you buy” if your organization or school is considering purchases.
Background | Through the generosity of the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation (PPF) and the Citrone Family, the Allegheny Intermediate Unit has established a STEAM Lending Library, the first of its kind in the nation. The PPF STEAM Lending Library was in response to educators who expressed a desire to use newer technologies with students but who often lacked the awareness, knowledge and/or financial means to move forward. Teachers in AIU districts are free to borrow classroom sets of resources at no cost.
While registration is open to all, currently only the 42 AIU “Member Districts” may borrow supplies.
