Maker Mondays! Toy Hacking Workshops

May 14 @ 8:30 am - 3:00 pm

ABOUT MAKER MONDAYS!
How can we support students in becoming creators of technology, rather than mere passive consumers of it? This question will lie at the center of Maker Mondays!, a new workshop series offered by the Allegheny Intermediate in Spring 2018. In these highly interactive workshops, participants will be provided with resources and supports to dissect readily-available technologies and hack them together to remix, repurpose, or even create something entirely new.

TOY HACKING WORKSHOP:
In this workshop, participants will take apart various toys, learn how they work, and explore how they can be enhanced by adding supplemental motors, LEDs, sensors, or even incorporating technologies such as Makey Makey, Hummingbird robots, and Micro:bit.
This session is ideal for those interested in enhancing the use of a makerspace with inexpensive yet impactful lessons.
