Maker Mondays! Creating Interactive Learning Spaces with Makey Makey (new date)
June 11 @ 8:30 am - 3:00 pm
ABOUT MAKER MONDAYS!
How can we support students in becoming creators of technology, rather than mere passive consumers of it? This question will lie at the heart of Maker Mondays!, a new workshop series offered by the Allegheny Intermediate in Spring 2018. In these highly interactive workshops, participants will be provided with resources and supports to dissect readily-available technologies and hack them together to remix, repurpose, or even create something entirely new.
Creating Interactive Learning Spaces with Makey Makey
The Makey Makey is a popular microcontroller. Inexpensive and versatile, it can be used as a tool in elementary to high school classrooms and beyond. In this workshop, participants will push the boundaries of how to integrate the Makey Makey in the classroom, exploring how it can be used with copper tape and the Scratch programming language to create interactive learning spaces that can actually talk to students. Imagine walls that talk to support reading decoding, or a chair, that when touched, provides students with a language translation.
This workshop is appropriate for K-12 teachers.
Supplies will be provided free of charge.
