How to Leverage Crowdsourcing to Innovate in Education (ioby)
May 31 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am
Cost | Free
Event Description | Interested in creating a new classroom or building-level project but uncertain from where funding will come? This interactive workshop will provide a hands-on exploration of how educators can leverage online crowdsourcing platforms to raise funds for exciting, innovative initiatives. Topics we will explore include setting up a crowdfunding campaign, telling a compelling story to get potential donors excited, and advertising strategies to get the word out to as many people as possible.
Background | ioby provides one-on-one coaching to plan, fund, and implement positive ideas in our communities. We will learn and practice: storytelling to activate community investment, strategy to amplify outreach and raise support, and best practices for successful crowdfunding. ioby’s strategy has an 87% success rate nationwide (ioby.org/about) and in Pittsburgh we have close to 40 projects currently crowdfunding (ioby.org/Pittsburgh). Schools partner with ioby nationwide to raise funds for new ideas, to continue programming, and to bridge gaps. We are excited to engage in a hands-on workshop with ioby’s Pittsburgh Action Strategist, Miriam Parson.
