Digital Storytelling: Amplify Youth Voice Through Podcasts and Radio (SLB Radio Studio @ The Children’s Museum)
February 21 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm
Digital Storytelling — Podcasts, Radio and More
Event Description: This hands-on, interactive session in the SLB studios will include sequential blocks covering equipment (e.g., microphones, recorders, mixers, editing software), distribution options (e.g., social media, podcasts, radio), and local and national projects ideas (e.g., oral history, journalism, youth commentaries, radio dramas, weekly podcasts). Registered attendees will be surveyed prior to the workshop to make sure the workshop covers issues of personal interest.
Background: Over the past 10-plus years, SLB Radio has become a national leader in using audio in the classroom in projects ranging from simple projects in support of existing ELA curricula to project-based learning through oral history collection, journalism, advocacy through self-expression and more.
Who Should Attend? This workshop is ideal for educators interested in the capturing and curation of stories, such as teachers of ELA and History. Interested in… student voice? podcasting? radio production? audio editing? This workshop will be designed to hone your skills in these topics and create a plan of action for classroom integration.
