Data Visualization and Inquiry: Exploring CREATE Lab’s EarthTime

November 2 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am

Cost | Free

Event Description | What is the impact of deforestation in South America?  Is there a relationship between the flow of refugees in the Middle East and the stability of large cities in that region?  What is the demography of Robinson Township and how does it change over time?  Come explore EarthTime, one of the CREATE Lab’s newest projects.  EarthTime enables users to interact with visualizations of the Earth’s transformation over time. Combining huge data sets with images captured by NASA satellites between 1984 and 2016, EarthTime brings to life patterns of natural change and human impact. This session, designed for teachers regardless of content area or technology experience, will give users an overview of the interface including accessing data layers and story mode as well as engaging in collaborative learning design.

Skill Level | Beginner (no previous knowledge expected or needed)
