Creating Flexible Learning Environments with Technology: An Introduction to Universal Design for Learning POSTPONED

Event DescriptionUniversal Design is the design and composition of an environment so that it can be accessed, understood and used to the greatest extent possible by all people regardless of their age, size, ability or disability.  This principal, which originated in the world of architecture can be applied to classrooms to ensure that students of all learning styles and abilities are provided valuable learning opportunities.

This session will provide an introduction to Universal Design for Learning (UDL), followed by hands-on activities to explore how teachers can utilize tools commonly built into existing technologies in order to create flexibility in how content  is presented to students and how mastery is assessed.

Lastly, we will examine how organizations around the region are presently using technology to increase accessibility followed by a discussion on how this can shape our own learning environments.
