Beyond Pencil & Paper: Hands On Career Exploration Tools (EVERFI)

March 1 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm

Our hope and dream as educators is that our students move throughout their educational career applying skills they’ve learned to real-world situations in and out of the classroom. With EVERFI’s interactive, student led resources, students learn critical skills such as personal finance, career development, entrepreneurial characteristics, and apply them in a safe space while leveraging their engagement with technology.

In this workshop, counselors, teachers, & administrators will learn how to select lessons from EVERFI’s library of resources aligned to ESSA’s career portfolio mandates for 5th, 8th, & 11th grade students, and how the certificates earned throughout the programs count as artifacts.

Programs include:

Vault – Understanding Money (Upper Elementary)

Introduces financial concepts and vocabulary early in a child’s cognitive development. Vault immerses students in real-life financial scenarios that focus on skill building and responsible decision making, covering everything from saving to making a budget.

MassMutual FutureSmart (Middle)

Practicalities of daily financial decisions, and the payoffs of long-term planning. As the mayor of the town, students must weigh opportunity costs to delay instant gratification for long-term gain.

EverFi –Financial Literacy (High)

Equips students with the foundational skills to be financially responsible adults, preparing them for college and career readiness. Students are able to apply their learning in safe, virtual environments to weigh the consequences of their choices and practice good decision-making.

Venture-Entrepreneurial Expedition (High)

Students start their own food truck business, and learn to write a business plan, hire a team, hone their pitch, and balance a budget in the process. Tacos anyone?

Leaving the workshop, you will have access to an online library of lessons, access to data feedback, community engagement ideas, and scholarship opportunities. Time to collaborate with teachers and discuss implementation plans with your local school manager will be built in as well; bring lessons plans and class lists if you’d like!

Please bring your laptop or device. You can preview the resources at everfi.com/k-12
