3 Ways to Integrate Coding in the English Language Arts Classroom: Grades 3-8

November 9, 2016 @ 8:30 am - 3:30 pm

Cost | Free

Event Description | Interested in integrating computer programming into the humanities?  Look no further!  This session will explore how the block-based programming language Scratch can be utilized in the elementary and middle school English classroom to teach and engage students in reader response, text analysis, and creative story telling.

BackgroundScratch is a programming language that makes it easy to create interactive art, stories, simulations, and games – and share those creations online. Scratch helps young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively — essential skills for life in the 21st century.

Scratch is a project of the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab. It is provided free of charge.

Skill Level | Beginner (no previous knowledge of coding is expected or needed!)
