Cost | Free
Event Description | Interested in integrating computer programming into the humanities? Look no further! This session will explore how the block-based programming language Scratch can be utilized in the elementary and middle school English classroom to teach and engage students in reader response, text analysis, and creative story telling.
Background | Scratch is a programming language that makes it easy to create interactive art, stories, simulations, and games – and share those creations online. Scratch helps young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively — essential skills for life in the 21st century.
Scratch is a project of the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab. It is provided free of charge.
Skill Level | Beginner (no previous knowledge of coding is expected or needed!)
